Crankcase Repair

Question My 1993 FXSTS has had the raised lip on the left side case ground off. Is there anyway to fix it short of replacing the case. The previous owner has stated that they tried the Harley crankcase repair kit. It still leaks just wondering if there is any solution or crankcase repair? Todd L

Answer Hi Todd, This register area of the case is a mechanical seal for the oil, without the lip it will always leak. You must send the cases to H/D and get new ones with your VIN number on them. The bright side is the new cases are extrude molded (much stronger) and powder coated. I would check on availability (the evo has been obsolete since 99) before I took anything apart, if not available I would buy an S&S 89″ stroker kit with cases and wheels.
