Looking Good

We are close to completing our upgrade on our Street Glide forks. Both left and right side fork assemblies have been reassembled per factory and manufacturers specifications. Our completed assemblies have Performance Machine chrome lower sliders and Progressive Suspension’s FST (frequency sensing technology) monotube cartridge lowering kit.

Triple Threat

The Street Glide forks and the motorcycle are going to look amazing and it is going to handle better than any and all stock Harley Touring models. We have used a combination of parts from three excellent American companies. All parts were engineered to fit and function together seamlessly.

Before installing the Street Glide forks into the upper and lower trees, the new Performance Machine bells need to be installed. The factory hardware is prepped with a little blue Loctite and reused to secure these new, chrome bells to the bottom of the lower tree.

It is a good idea to have a second set of hands available when installing the fork assemblies onto the motorcycle. Slide the fork tubes through the trees until they are in their correct position within the trees. Both sides need to protrude the same, equal distance through the top tree. To do this, you can either use a visual method or measurement method:

Visual method: set the fork height so that the top rear surface of the upper fork bracket is midway of the tapered area at top of fork.

Measurement method: Set top of fork to a measurement of 8.695 +/- .060 in from the top, rear of the lower fork bracket.

Evenly tighten the two lower, and one upper pinch bolts. Finally, tighten the hardware to 14 to 18 foot pounds. Next, we will be reinstalling the front fender, front wheel, front calipers and lower bezel. Looking forward to seeing this m/c on two wheels and leaning on its kickstand.
